2026-2027 Tryout Information

Dear Players and Parents,

Welcome to the High School Boys Golf season! I am excited to get out on the course and work with everyone. As we gear up for tryouts, I want to make sure you have all the details regarding our schedule, evaluation process, and expectations.

Our primary goal for tryouts is to give every athlete a thorough, fair, and comprehensive evaluation. To ensure everyone gets a full opportunity to showcase their game, no cuts will be made until Tuesday evening, and all players will complete at least one 9-hole evaluation round.

Here is the full tryout schedule:

Tryout Schedule & Locations

Day 1: Monday, August 3rd | Twin Peaks Golf Course

  • 12:00 PM (Noon): Swing evaluations, skills testing, and a short written exam covering basic golf rules and etiquette.
  • 2:30 PM, 2:40 PM, & 2:50 PM Tee Times: On-course play. We will be using these three afternoon tee times for extra on-course evaluations. (Groups for these tee times will be assigned during the noon session).

Day 2: Tuesday, August 4th | Sunset Golf Course

  • 10:00 AM: 9-hole evaluation round.
  • Tuesday Evening: Initial team rosters will be finalized and communicated.

Team Structure & Ongoing Evaluations

Following Tuesday’s round, we will select 4 Varsity players and up to 8 JV/Development players. Our total roster size is capped at 12 for the season.

  • Continuous Evaluation (JV / Development): Initial roster placements are not set in stone. JV and Development players will be continuously evaluated over the first several weeks of the season. This gives players ample time to hone their skills, show progress, and earn opportunities to move up based on growth and performance during regular practices.
  • Vacation Policy: If a player cannot attend tryouts due to a pre-planned family vacation or conflict, they will not be penalized. We will run a similar evaluation process during early regular-season practices to ensure they receive a fair shot at a roster spot.

Checklist for Day 1

  • Full set of golf clubs, extra golf balls, and tees.
  • Proper golf attire (collared shirt, golf shorts/pants, soft-spike or athletic shoes).
  • Water bottle and sunscreen.
  • All required school athletic registration and physical forms turned in prior to Monday.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out at Twin Peaks on Monday, August 3rd at 12:00 PM! Please feel free to reply directly to this email if you have any questions.
