Happy Summer to all of our Silver Creek students and families,
I hope you are having a terrific summer be it working, playing, relaxing, traveling, or reading! Yes, Reading! Even in the summer St. Vrain Valley Schools’ libraries are still open, albeit online. This year we have added the Overdrive system allowing for the checkout of e-books and audiobooks. My summer reading list has already included Ready Player One, Little Fires Everywhere, Screenwise and now beginning Hillbilly Elegy. Please take advantage of this awesome resource by using your SVVSD login at: https://stvrainco.libraryreserve.com/10/45/en/SignIn.htm?url=Default.htm
Our construction project is coming along and slated to be completed in late July. This project will add nearly 8,000 square feet of new classrooms and renovate nearly 12,000 square feet of existing classrooms. All told, we will net gain five new classrooms, eight newly constructed science labs, and several more renovated classrooms. In addition, we will also gain a new centralized chemical storage area, egresses for foot traffic, larger bathrooms in the E-Wing, and new carpet. It is going to be wonderful to welcome back students, teachers, and our community to these new and improved learning environments.
Outside of construction we have been mightily busy with professional development and curriculum development. This summer we have several teachers engaged at InnEdCo, AP Training, Tech Camp, The Lehrman Seminar at Yale, and creating curriculum for a student Advisory course which we look to implement in the future. We will be sharing more about Advisory as we conclude the curriculum development.
We have also been having a terrific hiring season and we are proud to announce our new staff members of the Silver Creek Community:
