Welcome back Raptor Nation!!!
As we begin this coming school year, we are filled with the hopes and dreams from all of our new and returning Raptors! We welcome the Class of 2025 and welcome back our classes of ‘22, ‘23, and ‘24! We have had an incredibly exciting summer here at Silver Creek and look forward to an incredible school year filled with continued success.
This summer we welcomed students as part of our incoming Class of 2025 with programs such as RaptorTech, Soaring Raptors 8-9 Transition, the Silver Creek Leadership Academy Retreat, Raptor Band Camp and numerous athletic camps. We also continued progress on our new SVVSD Aquatics Facility, which will be completed in November. Numerous teachers engaged in professional development in the areas of Advanced Placement, Historical and Literature Studies, Co-Teaching, Science Based Labs, Supporting Diverse Learners and much more. We’ve redesigned our website! We even won a state championship! Our Boy’s Swim team took the championship in June! And, 2013 Alum, Valarie Allman, won the gold in Tokyo in the Women’s Discus. It has, indeed, been a very productive and exciting summer.
We also have much to celebrate in regards to our academic accolades from this past year including: 58 new Advanced Placement Scholars, a Graduation Rate at 96.1%, exceptional improvement upon the PSAT/SAT (data is embargoed until August 16), and a passage rate among all students in all classes at 98.6%. This comes on the heels of Silver Creek being recognized as a top performing public high school in the United States as determined by US News and World Report. Go Raptors Go!!!
We welcome new staff members: Mr. Jorge Garcia, teaching in Spanish. Ms. Diana Dame, teaching in English. Ms. Shanelle France, joining our Special Education Team. Ms. LeeAnn Murray, School Psychologist. Ms. Ryley Allen, Health Clerk. Ms. Kristin Holtz, Librarian and Media Consultant. These new staff members are some of the best around and will be sure to make positive contributions to our Silver Creek Community.
As we return to this school year and in-person learning five days a week, our focus will continue to be on supporting students and providing each with opportunities for growth and academic development. Our staff is excited to see all of our Raptors and has been preparing for their arrival. We will greet you at the front door, whistle and all. Put your best foot forward as we begin the year and you will position yourself for success. Attend every class every day, engage, participate, study up and the rest will take care of itself.
As students return to school, we will continue to have processes in place addressing the COVID-19 protocols, as directed by Boulder County Public Health and Environment. Much of this information is available in the letter that Superintendent Dr. Haddad had previously sent to families on 8/9/2021.
At SCHS we will open the school at 7:30 a.m. each morning. All Students may come through the front entrance. We will return to having clubs meet in-person and look forward to providing students with extra-curricular and co-curricular activity options throughout the year.

We also fly a maroon flag (A Day) or silver flag (B Day) in front of the school each day. CETC and Innovation center busses will run on this day and every day forward.
Traffic Pattern
Our school is still under construction and our permanent bus loop is closed. Please drive slowly and safely while on campus. Our row of parking closest to the roundabout will still be one way during peak traffic drop-off and pickup times. While we are able to open the roundabout, sometimes this is compromised due to busses entering the area. Please see this diagram to view traffic flow. Please do not park along Nelson Rd. Please pull forward when in the drop off pickup line. NO U-Turns while in the drop off pickup line. Let’s keep our kids safe, keep each other safe, slow and steady will keep everyone safe. We expect our traffic pattern to resume to “normal” in September/October.
Back to School Night and Community Events
This year we will host our Back to School Night in a virtual format. We will share this information with all families as we near the 8/25/21 date. We aren’t yet in the full clear for large scale events to be hosted inside at Silver Creek. We do look forward to once again hosting athletic and performing arts events at Silver Creek and are working to insure these opportunities for our students, families and community.
Homecoming 2021
We look forward to once again celebrating Homecoming. This year we are putting plans in place to host athletic events, schoolwide parade, Powderpuff and the Homecoming Dance. This is subject to change based upon current public health orders. We are planning to turn our plaza into an outdoor dance venue to accommodate the protocols. Should we have to change dates for anything, or cancel events we will communicate this with our students and community.
PowderPuff – 9/2/21
Homecoming Parade – 9/3/21
Homecoming Football – 9/3/21
Homecoming Dance – 9/4/21
Additional athletic events and spirit week will be held during this week.
Raptors, we look forward to having a wonderful school year! We are excited to see you and welcome you back to Silver Creek. Let’s make this year our best yet and celebrate all that is Raptor Nation!
Sincerely,
